Original dark brown pebbled cloth, city insignia on front cover in gilt, spine panel lettered in gilt. Approx. 3/4" x 3/4" loss to top front corner and minor nibbling to top corner of early leaves, otherwise modest shelf wear with mild tanning and faded lettering to spine panel, some exposure at corners, toned text block edges. Firm binding with mended rear hinge showing surface paper loss in the gutter. Book plate mounted on blank verso of front flyleaf. 506 pp., illus. w/ engraved portrait plates, also illus. in text. Some notes in pencil on a rear blank, otherwise unmarked. Very scarce..
