Illustrated by black and white photos. A vivd life of Karen Horney, the lively challenging psychoanalyst from Germany who demonstrated early that Freudian psycholo-analysis need not be static, and fought the male chauvinism of New York and Vienna. the narrative is consistently sustained and the book given profound reality by the author's use of Horney's unpublished diaries. It is a landmark book.
