London: Edward Arnold, 1898. Light red cloth on boards with gilt titles. Blindstamped border trim to top and bottom. Moderate rubbed wear with dusting of soiling. Spine: heavily sunned; head & foot with thin wear. Edges: age soiling and moderate foxings. Title and Preface pages conjugated at top-edge. A slight surface splitting to front & rear gutterings.Half-title page with signature and date Oct. 1st 1929. Frontis: b/w photograph of the author with cigar and piece of paper in hand. Light old foxing to title and Contents pages. Quite clean contents. Binding is VG+ albeit only ever so slightly cocked. 348p. First Edition. Hb. VG/None.
