Rubber stamp on front endpaper and preliminary leaves: "Welcome to Everybody's Free Reading Room / A Gregory / Dargaville". Some insect worm holes to inner margins. Some pencil marginalia. Colour frontispiece with moderate foxing to margins, and insect worm hole to lower corner. Loss of cloth along edges and corners of boards. ; "Seventh Thousand". [2 (illustrated title leaf)], xv, [1],624 pages + colour frontispiece + 11 illustrations on 7 plate leaves. 1 folding map. Title page vignette. 9 other illustrations within the paginated leaves (1 full page). Cloth boards, rebacked. Page dimensions: 223 x 104mm. Colour frontispiece "printed in oil colours by G.
