List of subscribers at rear includes C. S. Lewis, Tolkien, Nevill Coghill, Kingsley Amis, W. H. Lewis and Roger Lancelyn Green among others. This copy with an inscription from Roger Lancelyn Green to "Byng" and dated Christmas 1951. Notably Green dedicated his 1953 King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table to Byng Husband. Prior to this publication of his first collection of poems, Wain studdied under C S Lewis and for a time associated loosely with the Inklings group, before later going in a different direction as one of a number of post war poets including Larkin and Amis who were identified as The Movement poets. Along with Green's penned inscription at front, there is laid in one of his letter headed post cards he habitually sent out to the dealers of rare books. This card specifies 13 scarce Andrew Lang related offprints, pirated editions and privately printed works he is seeking. Two are crossed out in pen as already obtained. The book is bound in title lettered flap fold wraps. Soundly bound with generally clean contents but with light to moderate shelf soiling to the cover surfaces and light storage wear and rub to edged. Spine edge a bit toned.
