About This Item

Garden City, New York: Doubleday Anchor, 1951. First Mass Market Paperback Edition . Mass Market Paperback. Fine. Gorey, Edward. A philosopher analyzes the present human condition & the problems & dilemmas confronting human society, writing in 1931, as the National Socialists were just coming to power in Germany. This is a new impression of the translation of the fifth German edition from 1951, with minor stylistic changes only, in 230 pages + Index in rear. It is also the First Mass Market Paperback edition from Anchor (A101), & another in its collection of titles to which Edward Gorey contributed his art, though he did just the typography here; cover art by Sydney Butchkes. From a single collection, it is in Fine condition: just a tad less crisp than Brand New! Completely clean & bright & tight as if it just came from the publisher; appears never opened & nicely protected in new mylar collector bag to stay that way. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
