Three-Quarter dark green and black morocco , ruled in gilt, Five raised bands to gilt-decorated spine with bright gilt lettering.Top edge gold. Deckled fore-edge and untrimmed bottom. Rubbing to extremities. Worn corners, Broken bottom headband, but all holding quite well; book is VERY usable. Lovely swirly marbled endpapers. Produced with all the elan and elegance of the finest French arts and letters, Occasional marginal foxing and browning. Wonderful chromolithographs, far better than the English editions, if that is possible. Exceptionally sharp wood engravings. Extraordinary illustrations depicting all aspects of French Renaissance culture and history. Note: Very Heavy Book.
