Patterned endpapers. Colour illustrations throughout; many full page. Text in French. Printed using a variety of chromolithography and over laid half tones. Page edges red. Front board with some mold damage near spine, but otherwise in good shape and clean. [iv], 31, [iv] pp. 250 x 330 mm (9¾ x13 inches). Jean-Jacques Waltz was born in Colmar in 1873. He was a French caricaturist known for his satirical work particularly depicting German tourists. This book illustrates his pro-French Alsatian feelings on Germany's annexation of the Alsace region. Hansi was imprisoned several times by the German authorities, culminating in a one-year prison sentence in 1914. . Édition de luxe. 'Oncle Hansi' pseudonyme de Jean Jacques Waltz.
