John Cruikshanks. 12mo., 19(1)pp. Beautiful First Illustrated Edition of this humorous short story with plates of Cruikshanks illustrations including frontis. Finely bound in contemporary green calf with gilt fluerons in corners. Spine title in gilt. All edges gilt. Gilt decorative turn-ins. Marbled end-papers. Loosely laid inis the bookplate of artist, collector and dealer Samuel Putnam Avery. Square, tight and clean throughout solid and clean throughout with no toning or foxing to interior pages. Some mild scattered spotting to end-papers. Spine and edges toned and lightly rubbed. Missing last page of publisher's advertisements. Small bookplate of noted American collector Albert A. Howard on the rear paste-down. A very pretty collectable copy of a scarce title in general and a quite unique presentation and association.
