London: Blackie & Son Limited, 1898. 1st Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Illustated. vipp; 384pp; 32pp. A charming copy of this childrens classis. Bound in original well preserved green cloth with gilt embossed lettering and colour embossed picture to the front board and spine. All edges coloured green. Illustrated with 12 full page b/w plates , including a frontispeice plate - all as called for. The book has a little spine lean. Bumps to the head and tail of the spine. School presentation bookplate to the front paste down from Royal Grammar School, Guildford, dated 1902. The frontispiece plate is loose with some creasing to the periphery and ligth foxing to the reverse. Clean and tight. A very good copy.
