" " "MORDECAI MACOBBER is mercifully brief, but it has the counterbalancing demerit of being very tedious, The object of the writer is stated to be to "create an amusing Australian character of the Wilkins Micawber type." It is a praiseworthy intention, and it is a great, pity he has not had better luck. The book purports to be written by the "late Hon. B. Schlimm-Mazel." and to be published at the Federal Capital in 1937, and personally we should have felt no regret had it been held back till that date. What it is all about we have not been able to discover,.but this particular volume is certainly not about Mordecai MacCobber. There is a glimmering suspicion of humour in places, but it is very evanescent. Our copy comes from Messrs. Walker and Welford." The Mercury, Hobart Friday 13, 1914 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
