First appeared in the Saturday Evening Post, titled "Out of Gas". It begins, "On a cloudy October night, a motorcar with one passenger in the rear seat was proceeding along the road which skirts the coastal lands on the western side of the island of Tahiti. " The passenger was heading home, and with him was a valuable bird, a secret entry in the next cockfight.
