Naum Granovsky (1898-1971) was one of the leading architectural photographers of the Stalin era. He was the chief photographer at the publishing house Izogiz, which studiously attempted to present the USSR as a vibrantly growing and flourishing country and so specialized in the photography of architecture and construction. After World War II, as a reporter for the news agency Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union (TASS) he traveled across the USSR but continued to photograph his favorite subject, Moscow.
