An estimated 20000 citizens undertook some form of military service in Queensland between 1860 and 1903. They werecalled to active service several times including the Bread Riots of 1866; the Russian war scares of 1878 and 1885; annexation of New Guinea in 1884; the Shearer's Strikes of 1891 and 1894. Personel assisted with rescue operations in the floods of 1891, and many served with the Queensland contingents to South Africa from 1899-1902. Includes much on local units and lists of officers known to have served.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. 8vo.
