William Heineman, nd (1913) 1913. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG-. 1st Edition, later printing. 15.2 x 20.7 cm grey cloth with sampler design and titles to the front and spine. Top edge blue, pictorial endpapers, as called for in a first edtition. (xi) 160pp, Blue printed title page, 13 full page colour plates with captioned tissue guards 2 with small tears on the bottom edge and numerous black and white illustrations by Arthur Rackham. Part of the cloth over the rear joint has worn through to create a 6.5 cm split and the spine tips and corners are a little rubbed. All four corners have been rubbed and a little pushed. Internally, there are ink initials to the front pastedown and splitting to the endpapers although the binding remains firm and square. There is some spotting and occasional finger marks. 2 tissue-guardswith small tears on the bottom edge. Full of witty and charming illustrations, this is one of Rackham's best illustrated books. It is now protected in a removable rigid plastic cover (not shown in our images).
