December, 1937, 69-page issue and 13 monthly bulletins bound in one volume. Densely illustrated with photos, many of mountains. Thirtieth Anniversary Number - Glacier Peak, Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan. Issue covers the first three decades of The Mountaineer. Pictorial highlights of Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens and more. Includes three lithographs, the last of which includes a famous short poem by Clark Schurman, a Mt. Rainier lead guide. Many bulletins, numerous period ads, etc. 10 3/4" x 7 1/4". Founded in 1906 by, among others, noted photographers Asahel Curtis and Lawrence Denny Lindsley, club members explored the mountains of the Pacific Northwest and documented their expeditions in this historically important mountaineering journal. Tight, unmarked ex-library copy with minimal shelf wear unless further noted. Bookplate removed from the front pastedown leaving remnant. Small label remnant to cover of December issue. Root's early-century, over-sized "dollhouse" book with illustrations (furniture, etc.) that can be cut out and mounted in any of nine different rooms. Full-color lithographs comprise an entire house. Root deliberately limited the number of illustrations so that the house could be customized and furnished with illustrations cut out from magazines and other sources. Rare. No copies appear in WorldCat library database at the time of this posting. 30 pp. 15 5/8" x 10". Tight copy with considerable shelf wear. Corners bumped and worn through, as are about half the edges. Hinges pulled away from backing somewhat, not affecting binding integrity. First two leaves show evidence of having been detached and competently reattached. Two small crayon markings noted.
