Traces of foxing/spotting to the top and front edges of the text block, and an abrasion at the left-hand edge of the front free end page from the removal of a reviewer's slip. There is no other damage to describe. Dorothy Sayers had her detective having a busman's holiday, and Josef Skvorecky is no different having his Czechoslovakian lieutenant on holidays in Italy, in a story which has 12 plots, many of them involving theatrical people or musicians and 1 concerns a band of mountaineers.
