About This Item
Original screen print in two colors for the 1929 film starring the beautiful, iconic film legend Greta Garbo in her ground-breaking statement about women's equality, "A Single Standard." This film makes the case for women being judged by the same standard as men when it comes to desire, romance and marriage. Garbo was the first female film star in cinematic history to wear pants in a film. "A Single Standard" was Garbo's fifteenth film. It was not entirely in sound but incorporated sound in the background while persisting with dialog cards for speech. The film co-starred Nils Asther, another Swedish film star who teamed with her for a number of films. The silk screen or serigraph process was developed at the turn of the twentieth century. It was an intensively hand-generated process akin to lithography, designed to increase the intensity of color while speeding the production process.
Condition: Framed. Some roughness around the edges which comes from the production process printed on light-weight cardboard, and handling. Otherwise, very good.
Dimensions: Frame, 28 1/2 inches high x 22 1/2 inches wide. Poster, 26 3/4 inches high x 20 3/4 inches wide.
Weight: 5 pounds 10 ounces.
