Biography of this civil rights activist and labor unionist (in 1925, he organized and led the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first successful African-American-led labor union.) He developed the civil rights tactics which Martin Luther King, Jr. later used, and was influential in organizing the March on Washington. Introduction by Bayard Rustin. (The excellent 2023 film 'Rustin' depicts his importance to the movement and that event) Illustrated with photographs. Selected bibliography, index. xii, 174 pp.
