The antique volumes have been rebound in yellow quarter-cloth, with marbled paper covers. the exteriors show mild shelf wear. The bindings are solid, with text blocks showing deckled edges. The original paper wrappers are bound inside, showing moderate to heavy age toning. The lavish engravings show occasional light toning and smudging, mostly marginal. This extensive catalogue of the Musee de sculpture antique et moderne (1826-1855, 6 volumes in 8, with plates in 4), used up Clarac's fortune in its writing and publication. Clarac was unable to finish it before his death.
