His work in the political arenas of several South and Central American countries is detailed here, with introductory histories of the region, Bolivar's education and mentors, his successes and failures. The event prompting this series was the move of the Liberator statue in New York City to its new location at the head of the Avenue of the Americas. The sculpture is of Bolivar in uniform, sitting on a prancing horse.
