About This Item

Mission, British Columbia: Barbarian Press, 2017. Lawrence, John. 24mo. (79)pp., + six loose plates. One of 60 deluxe copies. Engravings by John Lawrence printed largely from wood, with some detailed spots in larger engravings from polymer plates, all in the Press' customary assortment of bright colors. Texts from over forty songs and several poems from every period of Shakespeare's plays, including The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Hamlet, and The Winter's Tale, all presented with original spellings. Appended with notes and glossary. A charming volume highlighting the dramatic devotion to music, both humorous and serious. Quarter bound in maroon morocco with printed paper boards from printer's ornaments. Portfolio containing strikes of the engravings bound to match, save with plum silk rather than morocco. Together housed in plum silk slipcase. Very fine.
