Norman, Ok: University of Oklahoma Press, 1965. Attractive, clean copy. Brown textured cloth with four colors used on spine with some gilt design is fresh, clean and sharp. Textblock tight and square. No markings. Price intact jacket has edgewear at base of spine with some minor paper loss and faint rubbing on rear panel. No chips, tears or creasing. Meriwether was a frontiersman, mountain man, plainsman and territorial governor of New Mexico enjoyed a career matched by few in his time in the first sixty years of the nineteenth century. This was dictated to his grandaughter at the age of 86 and the manuscript descended to a great granddaughter and its survival has made possible the publication of the important piece of Western Americana seventy nine years after it was written.
