The first edition of this satirical Cecil Beaton novel, an illustrated account of the life of a fictional Baroness. The first edition of this work.Cecil Beaton's entertaining faux-memoir on the Baroness von Bulop, a fictional aristocratic woman whose reminiscences form this novel.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, thirty-two plates, and full-paged and in-text illustrations.Collated, complete.Beaton is a renowned fashion, portrait, and war photographer, well known and loved for his stage and costume design for films and theatre. He won Academy Awards for his costume design for the films 'Gigi' and 'My Fair Lady'.Without the original dustwrapper.Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some marks to the boards and spine. Light rubbing and discolouration to the spine. A couple of small cracks to the rear joint. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a small amount of loss of cloth to the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few odd handling marks. Good
