About This Item
London: Andre Deutsch, 1957. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's toffee-brown cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. The merest hint of foxing to the top edge otherwise a lovely, bright fine copy in like D/W with no fading to the spine as so often encountered and with no foxing to the back panel. No rubbing, wear, tears or pieces missing. The D/W is NOT price-clipped. A particularly attractive example. First book. Shows particularly well. Certainly the best copy that we have encountered. The Mystic Masseur (1957) won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1958 and was adapted as a film with a screenplay by Caryl Phillips in 2001. A satirical novel of Trinidadian Society. Photographs/scans available upon request.
