This work is a detailed essay on the political theories regarding constitutional, representative government, issued shortly after the 24 August revolt in Porto which ended absolutism in Portugal and brought about the establishment of a Constitutional monarchy. The duties and limits on royal authority are spelled out. Chapter I is on the nature of a constitution; chapter II, on the duties and obligations of a sovereign. On p. 31 is the promise, "Todos os mezes se publicarão dois Números deste Jornal," but the two copies we have located consist only of this issue.*** Not located in Innocêncio or in Fonseca, Pseudónimos.
