Bright white pages with staining to edges (appears to be an intentional attempt to lay green marble staining to page edges buy previous owner?) and a slight bleed to faces, by no means affecting text (but heavier at endpapers and early pages) as there are quite wide margins. Ink and pencil names to ffep and pastedown. Delightful graphic images on cover and spine show typical for age light rubbing and spotting scattered. General light edge/corner wear with a few threads. No jacket. .

Book is bound in red cloth over boards and nicely embossed on the front cover and spine. interesting pre WWI collectible.

Sage-green cloth pictorially stamped in gilt, dark green and red, blind stamped rules on rear. Brown endpapers; 8 full-page b&w illustrations. One-inch tear at bottom of outer rear hinge, spine ends and corners a bit worn, outer hinges a bit rubbed, spine slightly sunned and a tad cocked. Nonetheless, a solid, internally clean copy with the striking cover stamping still surprisingly bright.
