About This Item

Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, 1995. Softcover. Like New. 8x0x9. Signed by Author. An exhibition catalog. Inscribed "For? Best, Nancy Rubins June 19, 1997". Autographed copies rarely offered. Introduction by Hugh M. Davies. Text by Kathyrn Kanjo and Lisa Liebmann. Includes numerous color and black and white illustrations, list of plates, selected biography and bibliography. American sculptor Nancy Rubins (b. 1952) is known for creating gargantuan sculptures out of trash, and making them look visually appealing. Stylistically, her work resembles John Chamberlain's crushed automobiles, although her process is additive, like assemblage art. Installations can be found in the public collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and the Eli Broad Foundation, Los Angeles.[14] Large scale, outdoor sculptures are on permanent display at institutions throughout the world, including the Albright Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, Université Paris Diderot, Paris and on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
