Philadelphia: Carey, Lea, and Carey. Good with no dust jacket. 1828. Hardcover. Dry and powdery leather on spines has been treated with Cellugel to consolidate it. Joints split on Volume One, with boards hanging on by cords only. Brown stainining to margins of endpapers and preliminary leaves (offsetting from acidic glue?). Internally good. The folding map has a 45mm tear. ; First US edition. Two volumes (complete). Volume One: [2 (blank)], viii, (9)-507, [3 (blank)] pages + folding frontispiece map of India. Volume Two: [2 (blank)], [2], [5-8], (3)-395, [3 (blank)] pages. Early full calf boards, spine leather poor. Blind decoration and double gilt rule to borders of boards. Page dimensions: 217 x 134mm. Frontispiece map of India in Volume One has red and blue colour drawn by hand to show author's routes. Title continues: "An Account of a Journey to Madras and the Southern Provinces, 1826, and Letters Written in India. By the Late Right Rev. Reginald Heber, D.D. - Lord Bishop of Calcutta." .
