Philadelphia: Lea and Blanchard, 1849. Hardcover. Good +. 8vo. Publishers cloth with gilt lettering and embossment on spine and cover. Many illustrations and 2 folding maps. [9], (2), xiii, 14-509, [3], 4 (ads), [39] (ads).
Tearing to cloth at hinges, and 1" chip at header of spine. Previous owner's stamp on front free endpaper. Folding maps are in good condition but each have a large closed tear.
This is an illustrated "new and corrected edition" account of the U.S. Naval expedition to the Dead Sea, written by the commander of that expedition.
