Quite suitable as a breaker.. Black 3/4leather with embossed gilt design on cover. 488 pp. appx. 80 steel engravings in crisp condition. Pretty much what one would expect from its title, this first volume of the set offers steel engravings and biographies of such eminent American men as Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, James Otis, Richard Henry Lee, George Washington, Joseph Warren, John Hancock, William Moultrie, Jonathan Trumbull, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Richard Montgomery, JOhn Jay, Alexander Hamilton, Paul Jones, John Stark, George Clinton, Francis Marion, Daniel Boone, and many others.
