Description:
Seattle: Carl W. Art, 1937. First Edition. Seattle. Very Good +. Students at the Cornish School. 8vo. Pp. 109. Illustrated by students at the Cornish School. Index by location and business name. Bound in half cloth with native Northwest spruce. Boards, literally, are slightly bumped at the corner, otherwise in attractive condition. This title evokes all the charm of pre-war Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Vancouver and Victoria, touching as it does on establishments (in Seattle, anyway) as diverse as the old Rhodes Department Store, the Doghouse, Maneki's (still serving excellent Japanese cuisine) and even the good ship Kalakala -- once the fastest ferry in the world. Features Manca's, still recalled by old-timers as purveyors of the famous Dutch Babies. Increasingly uncommon. Northwest boosterism at its best. SMITH, 4372.
