Pp. xiv, 107; 6 photogravures, 13 chromolithographs and 28 further colour plates after Thorburn and Millais, all with tissue guards; text illustrations. Bookplate of former owner. Publisher's green cloth with gilt lettering. A little rubbing to edges and joints, scuff mark to spine, corner's lightly worn, cloth slightly marked. Contents clean and tight, tissue guards toned and some creased or worn to edges, minimal spotting, a couple of early pages with their lower corner tips pinched off, orignal end papers. Overall, a very good copy. . Limited Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Illus. by Archibald Thorburn . Folio. Book.

Undetermined. very good. large paper Edition Limited to 600 copies. xiv, 107pp. Folio. 1/2 green cloth over olive cloth with gilt titles and ruling to front board and gilt title to spine. Board rubbed and bumped; bottom corners worn through to bookboard. T.e.g. Front endpapers discoloured; lower edge dust stained. Top right corner of text block bumped with light foxing to first few pages, else internally clean. With 6 photogravures, 41 coloured plates and 25 uncoloured plates. Most tissue guards present if a bit wrinkled. Large paper copy limited to 600 copies, this being 324. very good An attractively produced book on British surface-feeding ducks. The plates are an interesting mix of engravings, illustrations, colour photographs and 8 fine chromolithographs by A Thorburn. Of interest to both the hunter and natural historian, this book details the life histories of several species, including the Mallard, Gadwall, Wigeon, Teal, and Pintail. 1902

With 41 full-page plates by Thorburn and Millais, 14 of which are high quality chromolithographs printed by W. Greve, Berlin, six photogravures and 25 other monochrome illustrations.

Light foxing to endpapers; old light water stains to lower inner corner of pages and plates, in places almost imperceptible, and to upper inner margin of Index leaves. Overall, an attractive copy.
