This scientific treatise provides 32 beautifully hand-colored engraved plates depicting a variety of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Also included is a portrait and memoir of French naturalist, Bernard-Germain-Étienne de La Ville-sur-Illon, comte de Lacépède.
