Washington, D.C.: Dept.. 1944.. Color pictorial map poster, sheet 40 x 60 inches, folding to 14 3/4 x 10 inches. Blank verso. 5 inch closed tear, some dampstains along folds which are scarcely visible on the map side, scattered foxing to verso. Color aerial physical 3-D style map of the North Pacific Area from the Pacific coast of the United States extending as far south as Taiwan on the China coast. Diagrams beneath the map show "The Battle of Attu" and "Track of the Battle of Midway." At upper right underneath an arrow "The North Pacific Road to Tokyo," is a timeline of "Japanese aggression" and descriptive text of the progress of the Pacific war: "The capture of Attu ended Jap occupation in the Western Hemisphere, and in turn opened the NORTH PACIFIC ROAD TO TOKYO." Arrows from the left demonstrate how "the Japanese struck boldly at every strategic naval base." Events depicted on the map include the USS Hornet with planes taking off from it and striking at targets on mainland Japan. .
