A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards, slightly foxed, slightly dusty page edges and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket not price clipped but with pieces missing to front, rear and spine. 255pp. The story of the Altmark, the secret supply ship of the Nazi pocket battleship the Graf Spee and the many British ships sunk by the Graf Spee. Eventually the Graf Spee was cornered - the Battle of the River Plate - and the Altmark, now alone, was instructed to return home - packed with British prisoners. She eventually reached neutral Norwegian waters from where 300 British prisoners were rescued.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Fair. 8.75 x 5.75 inches.
