Good- (ex-college library w/ book plates to front pastedowns & square, embossed blindstamps to title pg & last pg. leather spine edges & corners of all vols moderately scuffed, rubbed & worn. spines moderately scuffed & rubbed; raised bands rubbed & worn; ends rubbed w/ tears & fraying at edges; gilt & printing remains evident. vol 1 both hinges cracked & peeling from spine; boards rattled, fragile. vol 2 & vol 3 have some splitting at hinges; vol 2 front board rattled. vol1 descriptive text pgs have all detached; vol 2 & vol 3 have randomly seperated descriptive text pgs). half leather boards w/ inlaid brown cloth; five raised bands w/ 6 gilt printed compartments; marbled pastedowns & endpapers. top edge gilt. vol 1: unpaginated text pages followed by bw and color plates, plates 1-34a, each with a descriptive text page; vol 2: unpaginated text pages followed by bw and color plates 35-74a, each with a descriptive text page; vol 3: unpaginated text pages followed by bw and color plates 75-119, each with a descriptive text page. Leather shedding. Pages and plates fragile at edges with minor and occasional tears, chips and cracking. Pages have light to dark tanning; some plates will have dark halo like tan to their edges. Pages and plates will have instances of light marks, smudges and foxing. This set comprises: Volume 1, The Necropolis and its Graves, Volume 2, Garments and Textiles and Volume 3, Ornaments, Utensils, Earthenware; Evolution of Ornamentation. Set is approximately 30lbs+ for shipping.
