About This Item
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1952. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The first English-language edition, translated by Arthur Wells with a Preface by T.S. Eliot. Eliot remarks, "In trying to understand her, we must not be distracted -- as is only too likely to happen on a first reading -- by considering how far, and at what points, we agree or disagree. We must simply expose ourselves to the personality of a woman of genius, of a kind of genius akin to that of the saints."Minor wear to the unclipped jacket, with creasing and small tears at the head and tail of the spine and the corners, and soiling on the edge of the rear flap. Black cloth covers with red lettering. Slight toning to endpapers and edges, with the interior clean and unmarked.
