Cream boards backed with a red cloth spine, titled in gilt on the spine, in a pictorial dust wrapper illustrated by Wendell Minor. There are a couple of narrow vertical black marks to the front cover of the book. The tail of the dust jacket's spine is lightly creased. 254 & [1] pages, with endpaper maps by Wendell Minor. Very good.
First edition, first printing with the full number line.

Synopsis
Bill Bryson's first travel book, The Lost Continent, was unanimously acclaimed as one of the funniest books in years. Whether braving the homicidal motorists of Paris, being robbed by gypsies in Florence, attempting not to order tripe and eyeballs in a German restaurant, window-shopping in the sex shops of the Reeperbahn or disputing his hotel bill in Copenhagen, Bryson takes in the sights, dissects the culture and illuminates each place and person with his hilariously caustic observations. He even goes to Liechtenstein.
