Plus 2 folding coloured lithographic maps tipped-in at end. With numerous photographic illustrations with facing tissue-guards. HARDCOVER, uniformly bound in the original publisher's richly decorated full cloth, illustrations, ornaments and emblems on both sides and on spine, printed in several colours and heightened in silver and gilt, floral endpapers; hint of wear at foot of one spine. In about fine condition. Excellent set. ~ FIRST EDITION. Extremely rare complete set of both the English and the Japanese volumes. The Japan-Netherlands Society, under the Presidentship of Count Shigenobu Okuma, has been founded to promote better understanding between the two countries and bring about closer economical and social relations. The accompanying volume in Japanese was published simultaneously in matching binding but is illustrated differently. E-4 OUT
