Philadelphia: Georg W. Mentz, 1839. Hardcover. Good. "Stereotypirt von J. Howe." 504 p.: 12 leaves of plates; 18 cm. Contemporary full tree calf with six spine compartments between gilt rules. Leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title: Testament. One original clasp remaining. Inscription in German script on blank leaf following front endpapers: "Dieses Neue Testament Gehört Mir Catharina Berger," dated 1840. Title page partially handcolored to match the inscription. With: a small undated clipping from a German-language newspaper with an announcement of the wedding of Henry F. Nagel and Margaretta Hamilton, both of Allentown. In Good Condition: front joint split but board still attached by stitching; lacking one clasp; old dampstain throughout; 5-cm. closed tear from fore-edge of pp. 481-82; otherwise clean and tight.
