About This Item
1830. FECHNER, F. Neuer Bildersaal. Nouvelles Galerie de Tableaux. New Picture-Gallery. [18] leaves (including title-page), printed on one side only, with 106 lithographs in contemporary colour, heightened with gum arabic. 12mo, 140 x 91 mm., original dark green publisher's illustrated boards, in a modern cloth folding box. Guben: Bei F. Fechner, 1830. Extremely rare children's picture book. Each of the leaves contains six or seven hand-coloured images with captions in German, French, and English. The little pictures represent objects which would be familiar to children: a night candlestick, a kettle, a frying pan, wooden shoes. Small tear at bottom of back wrapper not affecting text or image, light spotting to covers, otherwise in very good condition. OCLC lists Indiana, Princeton, NYPL, UCLA, Harvard, Yale, in the US.
