1. Good+ to Very Good. Boston: Phillips Sampson 1856. 1st edition. 7.5"" x 5.25"" 403 pages followed by 4 pages of ads. Very scarce or rare. Small pencil, ""Howes # P154"" on top corner of fep. Dull pressed gilt to letters and emblem on red spine cloth. Covers have blind-stamped embossed borders. 1/2"" chip to spine top. Back edge of spine has about 2"" of chipping. Small piece cut away from fep. Hinges and binding intact. Minimal spots of foxing confined mostly to endpapers. Binding tight but cocked. Cloth edgeworn on corner tips and some edges. Owner's name in top margin page 15.
