Octavo (164 x 103mm in 8's) red blindstamped roan gilt lettered to cover and gilt ruled to spine (head & foot of spine chipped and repaired, edges rubbed, corners worn) All Edges Marbled vi +6pp +p5*/p6* +440pp + 16pp Lockwood catalogue of books dated August 1883. Front and rear endpapers with further publisher's lists printed on pink paper, a little bit worn. Ownership E. Crighton 1884 in pencil to front endpaper and some pencil check marks to margins. *The Academie Francaise had just revised their dictionary and the opportunity was taken to thoroughly revise this Grammar in accordance with the French. "There are numerous exercises and Examples illustrative of every rule." A neat tight copy in the original binding as priced on the cover and in the booklist.
