In a quarter calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Though better known for his fictional works, Doyle wrote a variety of non-fiction works. The New Revelation was his first spiritual work, prompted by his interest in spiritualism and his thoughts on morality during the Second World War. Arthur Conan Doyle is best known for the creation of the famous literary character Sherlock Holmes, who featured in four novels and over fifty short stories. Originally a physician, Doyle initially struggled to find a publisher for his first novel. It was not until 1886 that 'A Study in Scarlet' was taken on by War Lock and Co and published in Beeton's Christmas Annual a year later. Doyle's work is still widely considered some of the worlds best crime and detective fiction, which is still used as a literary benchmark to this day. An interesting exploration of Doyle's thoughts on Spiritualism and religion. Condition: In a quarter calf binding. Externally, smart. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the joints. Light fading to the spine. Front hinge is very slightly strained, but firm. Evidence of bookplate removal to the front pastedown. Very minor offsetting to the extremities on the front and rear endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Overall Condition: Very Good.
