About This Item
Menston: The Scolar Press Limited 1969. (stiff paper covers) 84pp. Very good. The spine is cocked, the covers are a bit soiled and creased, and a previous owner has marked in the page numbers. "Massinger's New Way to pay old Debts was not, apparently, one of his most popular plays during the seventeenth century, and Bentley records evidence of only two performances in London: on August 10, 1639, and January 25, 1661. The title-page does, however, testify to its having been 'often acted at the Phoenix in Drury Lane, by the Queenes maiesties seruants'" - from the Note. Time Period 17th Century. Locale: Drury Lane; London--England. (Drama, Drama, Plays, Theater).
