London: Archibald Constable & Co, 1908. Hardcover. very good. 1st Edition. vii,355,(4) pp.pp. Octavo. Original red cloth. Gitl title on front board and spine. Corners a little bumped. The odd bit of foxing in the text. Old crease at the bottom of the spine just along the publishers imprint. Still a very presentable copy and quite bright. very good Inscribed on the half title Dorothy from H.G. to "Dorothy" is Dorothy Richardson, author of "Pilgrimage". While in Bloomsbury in the late 1890s and early 1900s, Richardson associated with the Bloomsbury Group. H. G. Wells (1866-1946) was a friend and they had a brief affair which led to a pregnancy and then miscarriage, in 1907. This title is inscribed to her just after the affair. The first 9 chapters were serialized in the Grand Magazine, July 1907-March 1908. 1908

Synopsis

New Worlds for Old is an anthology of fantasy short stories, edited by Lin Carter. It was first published in paperback by Ballantine Books in September 1971 as the thirty-fifth volume of its celebrated Ballantine Adult Fantasy series. It was the fourth such anthology assembled by Carter for the series. The book collects fifteen fantasy tales and poems by various authors, with an overall introduction and notes by Carter.
