During the 30 years war, he was physician to the Elector of Brandenburg and in 1638 cured a large portion of the Swedish army of the plague for which he was much lauded (at least by the Swedes). Recent half brown morocco, spine with 5 raised bands; marbled boards. ¶ An interesting municipal pharmacopoea, published by order of the Collegium Medici Gandensis under the editorship of the pharmacists J. de Bever, A.D. Goormachtigh, G. van den Haute, and J. de Vos. The popolar names of the Materia Medica also give in Dutch. This was the last of a series of the municipal pharmacopoeasof Gent. The first was published in 1653 as 'Antidotarium Gandavensis", followed by an edition in 1663, and in 1756 as 'Pharmacopoea Gandavensis'. This is the last municipal pharmacopoea published in Belgium, and new was that the names of the Materia Medica are given in both Latin and Dutch. Today very rare.-- (A number of leaves slightly browned and/or partly foxed).
