New York: The New York Times Company, 1917. Published 1917. Externally worn copy of Volume XIII of this series of twenty volumes published by the New York Times during the course of World War I, fully indexed in each volume by author, subject matter and title, plus alphabetical list of portraits. Green cloth lettered in gilt, 9.25 inches tall, about 600 pages (pages are consecutively numbered beginning from the first volume and continuing through the others). Some shelfwear, with rubbing to the extremities, minor tears to the spine ends, hinges good at the endpapers but showing a little weakness a few pages in from each end, text block sound, pages a bit age-toned but clean and free from names or other markings. Externally fair to good, pages very good. Includes incisive reporting and analysis of the conflict, with thoughtful commentary and opinion pieces, illustrated with sepiatoned portraits, occasional cartoons and other illustrations. . Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
