About This Item
New York: NY Women's Trade Union League, 1949. Newsletter. Thirty-nine issues of the 8.5x14 inch newsletter, all from the period of Rose Schneiderman's leadership; earlier issues generally one sheet mimeographed front and back on printed letterhead, later issues generally two sheets stapled together. Some issues have corner creases or other minor handling wear, generally very good. Issues present are June, September, November, December 1944; January-June, September-December 1945; January-April, June, September, October, December 1946; January-March, September, November 1947; January-June, September, November 1948; January, April, June, and November 1949. Each issue begins with an announcement of its monthly meetings; these often featured prominent speakers (such as Eleanor Roosevelt in both April 1946 and January 1949), academic speakers on current events, or plays. Much focus on issues such as day care, food prices, and wage levels, as well as support for European war refugees (a significant portion of the membership was Jewish).
